Moving a little every day is one of the most useful habits an older adult can keep, and one of the easiest to lose. When getting up from a chair takes effort, it is tempting to stay seated, and staying seated makes the next attempt harder. Gentle exercise and mobility support breaks that cycle with encouragement, company, and a steady arm.
Jolly HCA offers this support at home throughout Newport Beach, Corona del Mar, Newport Coast, Laguna Beach, Costa Mesa and Irvine. Meliza Jones is a plant-based endurance athlete as well as a Registered Nurse, BSN, and she brings a genuine enthusiasm for movement to every visit. The sessions themselves are simple and non-medical: stretching, seated exercises, and moving safely around the home.
What a visit includes
- Light stretching for the arms, shoulders, and legs, seated or standing with support
- Simple seated exercises that fit around a favorite chair
- Short walks through the house, along a hallway, or around the garden or patio
- A steady hand moving between rooms, in and out of chairs, and in and out of bed
- Encouragement to keep up any home routine your doctor or a licensed therapist has already given you
- Keeping walkways clear so moving around the home is easier
Encouragement and steadiness, never a program
Gentle exercise and mobility support is encouragement and physical steadiness, not a prescribed rehabilitation program. Those services stay with your doctor or a licensed therapist. If they have given you a set of exercises to do at home, Meliza can keep you company while you do them and help you remember to fit them into the day. She does not design exercise plans for a health condition or change what a professional has recommended.
Every session is tailored to comfort and ability on that particular day. Some days a few stretches in the armchair are plenty. Other days there is energy for a slow lap of the garden. The goal is to move a little more, a little more confidently, and to reduce the everyday risk of falls around the home.
Why a familiar face helps
Exercise is far easier with company. A stretching routine that feels like a chore alone becomes part of a pleasant visit when someone is doing it with you and chatting through it. Many clients pair a short session with companionship afterward, or start the morning with personal care assistance and a stretch before breakfast.
Who it helps
- Older adults who have become less active and want to keep their strength and balance
- People who feel unsteady moving between rooms or getting up from a chair
- Anyone who has home exercises from their doctor or therapist and wants company to keep them up
- Families who worry about a parent moving around the house alone
Led by a Registered Nurse, kept non-medical
Every visit is provided personally by Meliza Jones, RN, BSN, a retired Registered Nurse whose background runs from massage certification to a degree in nursing science. That experience shows up as calm, attentive, unhurried care. The service itself is always non-medical: help with everyday life at home, never a substitute for your doctor, and any health concern is referred back to your physician. Jolly HCA keeps a small client list, so availability is limited and every family gets the same familiar person each visit.
